John Lilly is an award-winning, multi-faceted songwriter and performer from Charleston, W. Va., who specializes in country roots and traditional folk music. From poignant ballads to humorous songs and yodels, John captures the essence of the past and puts it in his own terms. He has been a Bear festival favorite for many years.
During his career in music, John has traveled to 48 states, South and Central America, and in the United Kingdom, both as a solo artist and as a member of performing groups. In addition to his solo performances, he appears regularly with the band Blue Yonder.
A former guide at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Music in Nashville, he has recorded six solo CDs and he has served as editor of West Virginia's acclaimed Goldenseal magazine, the state's quarterly journal of history and traditional life.
