Georgia Crackers PDF Print E-mail

The Georgia Crackers, a favorite of Dahlonega audiences, keep alive the string band tradition made famous by 1920s artists such as the Skillet Lickers and Fiddling John Carson. In addition to authentic breakdowns, rags, and blues, the Crackers always entertain with old-time ballads, vocal harmonies, and humorous novelty songs. Featuring a repertoire of entirely historic Georgia material, the trio introduces audiences to early country classics as well as  tunes collected from regional musicians and field recordings. Fiddler Mick Kinney, guitarist Kenneth Johnson, and banjo player Chip Corbitt faithfully recreate the sound and spirit of their namesake, the original Georgia Crackers.

Although performing individually for decades, in just two years as a group they have been invited to the Governors Honors and the Georgia Stringband Festival, broadcast on "Backroads and Banjos" and "Blue Plate Special", and twice awarded Tennessee Valley Fiddlers Convention 1st Place Old-Time Band.
