Old-Time Fiddle - Mick Kinney
Learn traditional old time fiddle in a relaxed setting with Georgia Crackers fiddler Mick Kinney. Play some hot breakdowns, blues, and modal tunes from the region, or pick up some new licks to use on your own repertoire. Recording is welcome in this group session, and some individual instruction is also provided.
Mick Kinney studied with Georgia fiddlers Ben Entriken, Curley Parker, Fonzie Kennimer, and Opel McMichen.He has taught traditional music at Swannanoa Gathering, Alabama Folk School,and has received the 2012 Anita Sorells Award for Education.
His live and recorded performances have been on NPR,Mountain Stage,and PBS telivision.Mick regularly entertains with the old time string band,The Georgia Crackers.
The cost for the class is $50
The cost for the class for a student or a current SEBA member is $45
The cost for the class with a new SEBA E-membership is $60
The location will be St. Luke's Roman Catholic Church across from Hancock Park.
